Inspecting your shingle roof

Inspecting your shingle Roof? I do not recommend that you inspect your roof, I think it is best to pay a professional. However, if you must, below are some signs to look out for.

  • Inspecting your shingle roof – Walk around the exterior of your home, look at the roof from the ground for signs of any damage, sagging, and aging. If t your roof deck is sagging or if you can see natural light showing through the roof, call a roofing contractor for an estimate.

  • If you notice shingles that are buckling, curling, or blistering, this would be a sign that you need to replace your roof. Hot air from attics often causes shingles to buckle and curl away from the home, putting your roof at risk for more damage and poor roof ventilation
  • Missing or broken shingles. Look for missing, damaged, and aged shingles – this is the leading cause of roof damage. By inspecting your roof you can catch this before it becomes a major issue and then cause damage. Missing shingles leaves the underlayment exposed to inclement weather, and it looks unattractive!
  • When inspecting your shingle roof look for cracked and worn rubber boots around vent pipes, this leads to leaks.
  • Rotted leaves and moss could mean the roof is damaged underneath. identify areas with moss, algae, and piles of leaves – these areas are notorious for causing major leaks. Are there damage marks or water spots. Rot and mold can occur when you have constant water exposure to wood rafters.
  • Look closely for granule loss. Granule loss indicates that shingles have aged or have been affected by severe weather, and are no longer protecting your home against damaging storms. If your shingles don’t have a texture on them anymore, it is time for a new roof!
  • It is important to clean your gutters and roof overhangs and maintain your downspouts! As you’re performing these essential tasks, make note of open joins and signs of rot, as those are typical indicators of larger issues.https://myflroofingcon.wpengine.com/how-does-your-gutter-affect-your-roof/

My Florida Roofing was phenomenal, always on time and detail oriented. Very knowledgeable on the different types of roofs and options. Felix and Maria, picked up the phone immediately and always answered my questions. The owner Rene was on site frequently looking over the job. They were also the best priced and were even recommended by other roofing companies. Very happy with the outcome.

Having my roof done by My Florida Roofing has been nothing less than an excellent experience. The entire team has been super professional and attentive from the beginning. From the office team who handles the paperwork/permits and customer service and quickly sets up appointments; to Felix, our very knowledgeable and courteous sales rep, who was in constant contact throughout the project time, to give us updates and check up on us; to the installers who did an amazing job; to the owner who made sure to personally come and inspect before, during and after the roof was installed. Everyone did an outstanding job. Now let's talk about GOING ABOVE & BEYOND: Maria - the project manager. She was absolutely the person that made the entire process smooth and easy. She was always available to answer any questions and to give me updates (Maria - you are amazing- thank you!) We love our new roof. I am thrilled we decided to use My Florida Roofing. Thank you! I totally recommend this company and to anyone who needs to come by and see our roof we are at Lindsey Lanes - Vero Beach (house will be painted off-white soon, but for now is Yellow) - See photo for reference.
